About Aston Ingham Tennis Club
The Club came into existence through the efforts of a few people in the Aston Ingham area to gather together for social tennis on a private court during the late 1970's. Numbers and interest grew rapidly and in the early 1980's the Club was able to construct its first court in Stockings Field, Kilcot, following in the footsteps of the local Cricket Club who had developed the field for cricket use. Today the Club is flourishing, with two fine courts and a Clubhouse, a membership of around 60 Adults and 25 or so Juniors.
We are affiliated to the LTA and were awarded Clubmark Status in 2011. During the past few summer seasons the Club has entered Men's and Ladies’ Teams in the Gloucestershire LTA League.  In addition, during the winter the Club enters a team in the Gloucestershire LTA Mixed Doubles League and it is anticipated that, as we have now obtained planning permission for the erection of floodlights at our courts, we will soon be able to play home matches at the Club instead of at the Newent Sports Centre.
In addition to League Tennis, however, there is a strong emphasis in the Club on social tennis, competitions within the Club, and friendly matches with other clubs.  Each year we have a Mixed Doubles Tournament (the Morton Shield), where partners are picked at random; a Singles Tournament (Men and Ladies), and a Men's Doubles and Ladies Doubles Tournament.  During the summer season the Club is keen to promote the social aspect of playing tennis and Members are encouraged to attend ‘Club Sessions’ on Saturday afternoons from 2.0 p.m. and Wednesday evenings from 5.0 p.m. where players of all abilities can ‘mix-in’ and enjoy some friendly tennis.

We have an active set of internal leagues for both singles and doubles.  In addition, we have a Junior Tournament and also have a Junior Coaching programme throughout the summer using the services of a professional coach.

Inevitably, to ensure the smooth running of the Club, we have rules and procedures covering such issues as health and safety, accident reporting, visitor procedures, playing priorities, etc. all of which are covered in detail in the Members’ Section of this website (available only to Club Members).
